We are stuffed to capacity. The average American home has over 300,000 items, yet it's nearly 3x larger than it was 50 years ago. We have appetites for material things that at times seem insatible. Research clearly indicates that all of this excess consumption does not make us happy. Moreover, it's a lifestyle that's not sustainable for our planet. So how are we to live? We not only need to pare down, but we need a more considered approach to the products that come into our homes. Items need to earn their way into our lives by being functional and multipurpose, they need to help us live a more sustainable life, they need to consider the broader social impact of their use, and fit in a small footprint home. And because we as humans are wired to appreciate beauty, they need to be beautifully designed. This is our edit, a pov for your consideration on what to buy. We welcome your comments, suggestions, and ideas.
